WHAT IS A TAX AGENT?
In the Federal Law # 7 of 2017 on Tax Procedures, the definition of Tax Agent is clearly defined in Article 1. Chapter 1. The scope of applications states Tax Agent as “any Person registered with the Authority in the Register, who is appointed on behalf of another Person to represent him before the Authority and assist him in the fulfillment of his Tax obligations and the exercise of his associated tax rights.”
To unquote the quote, UAE Tax Agents are ones who have their registration with Federal Tax Authority (FTA) to assist the tax registered businesses in their UAE Tax affairs and can represent them directly with their sole consent before the FTA.
Tax Agent basically assist the UAE Businesses in understanding the UAE Tax requirements and parameters set by the UAE government to fulfill their tax obligations on timely basis with any delays to avoid any penalties and poor track records in taxation matters.
Appointing a Tax Agent or at least a Tax Consultant will help the UAE taxable Businesses to identify the right “Dos and Don’ts” which will help them in avoiding penalties on non-compliances of provisions of UAE Tax laws and results in better tax planning as well.
